Iisakki Jarvenpaa established his knife making business in Kauhava Finland in 1879. Today many of the same traditional models continue to be handmade in Kauhava. Production numbers at the workshop in Finland are modest but all components are made in-house. A conscious decision has been made to stay with the old ways, machinery and methods, there is no outsourcing to the far east, no cnc machinery and no mass production. Handmade knives cost a little more but every knife is unique. Why settle for the common place?
